On Farm Pickup

Viterra’s Logistics department offers a freight service to all clients who wish to move grain, either interstate or intrastate.  Logistics provides the On-Farm Pickup (OFP) service for growers during harvest, in addition to freight movements from a receival site to an end user or export terminal for grain marketers and traders throughout the year.

Surveys have shown OFP provides many benefits for growers, including:

  • Lower freight costs
  • Faster turn around of trucks during harvest
  • Convenience – allowing growers to focus on their core business

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I use OFP?

Viterra has 500 carriers available to OFP growers, and, regardless of how many carriers you use, you will only receive one invoice per month, included with other Viterra charges. We will continue to pay carriers weekly, so using OFP won’t disadvantage them.  Viterra offers OFP rates that are competitive in the area. In most cases, a further saving will apply for growers.

How do I work out the zone?

You will be invoiced based on km travelled from the point the grain is picked up, to the sampling stand. We check the km entered in our system against the zones registered for the grower card, to ensure accuracy. If you have several paddocks, or are unsure of the distance, you can register as many zones as you like. Omitted zones will cause delays in our payment to your carrier. To help you check your information, write the paddock name in the Grower / Carrier Delivery Advice Book. This information will be included on your Grower Statement, and may explain varied distances.

How do I register for OFP?

Download the OFP Transportation Service Grower Agreement form, or contact the Viterra Service Centre on 1800 018 205. It is important to make sure all forms are completed before you start deliveries.

If I register for OFP, do I automatically register for AWB on-farm pick-up service?

No. AWB, and its storage and handling facilities are completely separate to Viterra.

I have registered for OFP at one site; can I receive the benefits at any site?

If you use your registered NGR Card to deliver to another Viterra OFP site, we will assume you still wish to use OFP, and will contact you do confirm required zones.

I have registered my NGR card for OFP, are all my sharefarming arrangements automatically included?

OFP is registered against the grower card, so you will need to notify us, before deliveries of all your NGR card numbers.
